The Lyoprotect® Cup for sterile freeze-drying is the perfect choice if you are
- drying small quantities of pharmaceutical ingredients,
- looking for a simple solution for freeze-drying without fly-out,

So the cup is ideal for smaller quantities at R&D level. In combination with the corresponding Lyoprotect® Membrane, it protects your pharmaceutical product against contamination as well as your staff and working environment against fly-out.

The Lyoprotect® Cup has been designed for the pharmaceutical production of APIs (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients). It allows multiple use after cleaning. Only the membrane needs to be replaced before every new drying cycle.
All components can also be individually sterilized in an autoclave.

Why favor Lyoprotect® Cup for sterile freeze-drying?
No cross-contamination in your freeze dryer
Covering your product with the Lyoprotect® Membrane prevents cross-contamination inside your freeze-drier. The screw-on ring cover and matching o-ring provide for reliable sealing. Cleaning the freeze dryer between cycles is not necessary.
It is a cost-efficient way to ensure that occupational exposure limit values (OEL) are met.
Special membrane for excellent sublimation
The Lyoprotect® Membrane is expanded PTFE on non-woven polypropylene backing. Thanks to its special properties, the membrane has an excellent quality for lyophilization. It is bacteria-proof and gas- and vapor-permeable.
Reliable sealing against fly-out
The silicone o-ring ensures reliable sealing throughout the entire process. With FEP sheathing, even higher acid resistance can be achieved. The screw-on ring cover holds the o-ring and membrane securely in place. No chance for contamination or fly-out!
Durable, high-quality material
The Lyoprotect® Cup VXS for sterile freeze-drying is available in two materials:
- Aluminum AlMg 4.5 Mn; universal alloy for engineering and construction, anodized surface, roughness Ra ≤ 0.8 µm
- Stainless steel 1.4404 (316L) with inspection certificate 3.1, consecutive serial number, polished surface, roughness Ra= 0.4 µm
The Lyoprotect® Stainless Steel Cup VS is only available in this material:
- Stainless steel 1.4404 (316L) with inspection certificate 3.1, consecutive serial number, polished surface, roughness Ra= 0.4 µm

Cleaning and Sterilization
Stainless steel cups: clean with hot water up to 95°C (203°F) and, if needed, with detergents, acids or caustics.
Aluminum cups: clean with hot water up to 95°C (203°F) only. Don’t use any detergents, acids or caustics, as they may cause corrosion. Manual cleaning with soap is no problem.
All components can be individually sterilized in an autoclave.

Lyoprotect® Stainless Steel or Aluminum Cup
The Lyoprotect® Cup is available in size VXS in aluminum or stainless steel. In size VS, the cup is only available in stainless steel. The corresponding screw-on ring cover is part of the system and is always included with the cup.
